Updated Guidance for Assigning People to the Community Queue

Background

Our Coordinated Entry System received its first Coordinated Entry grant from the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) beginning September 1, 2022. Our changes to the Community Queue are a direct result of these grant requirements. Specifically, we need to change how we operate dynamic prioritization in order to remain compliant with HUD’s federal funding requirements.

Our previous system had an offline operation of prioritization that needed to be integrated into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). We added additional Community Queues to satisfy the “Priority Lists” reporting requirement for collecting, recording, and managing Coordinated Entry in HMIS.

Important notes for Housing Providers:

  • Starting September 1st, do not refer households back to the community queue upon denial.

  • OneHome staff will determine whether to refer households back to the community queue and which one based on the denial information

  • OneHome staff will be monitoring this and will be reaching out if we see you referring households back to the queue

  • Please remember to provide thorough details about why the household was denied...otherwise we'll be emailing you!!

  • If denial is for a reason such as death, moved out of state, or self-resolved: exit household from OneHome program in HMIS upon denial
